BAMONIMAMBO (The Witnesses)

In Footsteps of Henry Morton STANLEY

(Page under construction)

A century ago, Sir Henry Morton STANLEY, one of Africa’s most famous explorers who found Dr David LIVINGSTONE (and who reported greeting him with the words "Dr Livingstone, I presume?") and resolved one of the most intractable geographical problems that had troubled generations, since the time of the ancients Greeks: The Source of the Nile. Despite the fact that he was a Welshman, very few Welsh are informed or aware of his exploits.

Through the historical figure of H.M. Stanley and others British and Welsh who travelled in Africa and mapped the Congo, it is our dream to link the Democratic Republic of Congo and Wales, in partnership projects, twinning cities, exploring new challenges and opportunities, developing links for the benefit of both peoples and sharing the British and African cultural and historical heritage through community network projects.

The project "BAMONIMAMBO (the Witnesses): Congo and Wales Roots and Routes" was funded by Heritage Lottery Fund (Wales). The main outcome of the project is the publication of a book by Norbert MBU-MPUTU and Deo KATYA Kasereka: "BOMONIMAMBO (The Witnesses): Congo and Wales Common History. Migration, Integration and Multiculturalism in Tolerant Britain)

LAUNCH OF H.M. STANLEY FIRST STATUE IN DENBIGH

Norbert MBU-MPUTU greeting H.M. Stanley's statue, Denbigh

« When you move to a new village, avoid starting to dance with your left foot while the locals do it with their right one. First, you must learn their way of dancing and teach them yours. You and the village will be enriched with these two ways of dancing: their old one starting with the right foot and your new one with the left foot. » (Proverb from the DRC).
